Maisie are psychedelic groove merchants from Kaurna Land: Emmett Prime, Yanni Apostolidis, Madeleine Cossey, Olivia Aquilina and Edward Tyson. Infectious grooves, juicy basslines, and comparisons to Funkadelic, Khruangbin and Babe Rainbow that they have more or less earned.
The live show is the whole point. Their catalogue, including ‘Sugar for Dinner’, ‘Hot Juice’ and ‘Sharp Shooter’, is built to be played loud and in the open air.
At Marksenfest
Maisie played Marksenfest 2023 on Saturday 7 October. The festival billed them as one of the highest energy bands in Adelaide and promised they would “get ya groovin’ hard” on a mind-altering journey. They delivered. Rum Jungle headlined, with The Kavs, The Max Headroom and Stormy-Lou also on the bill.
