The New Yorks are an Adelaide indie band built on angular guitars and a swagger borrowed from the early-2000s wave of indie rock. ‘We Enjoy This Too Much’, ‘Bluest Summer’ and ‘New Age’ are the ones people remember.
They were a fixture of the Adelaide circuit through the 2010s, and one of the few acts to earn a repeat Marksenfest booking.
At Marksenfest
The New Yorks are the only band to have played Marksenfest twice. They appeared first in 2014, on the bill with Timberwolf and a very young Hockey Dad, then returned in 2017 under headliners Heaps Good Friends alongside LOS LEO, The Montreals and Hartway. Both times they shared a stage with a band about to break out.
